I’d like to take this time to officially announce Boxable, Ameteria’s first official web application. The reason why we decided to move to a more simple hosting and development platform is simple. We have people contacting us weekly asking if we have any kind of simple do-it-yourself solutions for their websites. They don’t have the capital required to hire a designer or purchase web publishing software and they don’t have the experience needed to develop a website on their own. In addition to these average users, a good amount of our customers rely on us or website publishing software to update their websites. This unfortunately, requires experience that the average computer user doesn’t have. After a lot of brainstorming, we thought of a way that we could remedy this very common problem without sacrificing website functionality and beauty.
That solution was Boxable. It will allow a customer to easily make a beautiful and functional web page without any software or any technical knowledge. Providing domains, hosting, thousands of templates and an extreme amount of control over each page, Boxable will allow customers to get their website up and running within a day. What separates Boxable from other website creation solutions is the amount of emphasis that is put on design, functionality, and support. Before entering the market, we did a lot of research; we even tried some existing products to see where we could improve, and thankfully, there’s a huge margin. While experimenting, we found several solutions extremely limiting. What we mean by limiting is that there wasn’t a lot of support for social media, developers, and business opportunities.
In addition to the limiting features, the templates that we were supplied looked terrible with limited customization. For example, take a look at the image to the right; this is an actual template that one of the major website creation companies distributes. After you get past your eyes bleeding, you cannot change anything about it other than the font color and the header image; you can’t add additional images to the header, you can’t add additional columns, you can’t do anything. Once we were done trying out these solutions, we decided to check out some reviews to see what people thought of these companies. We found an overwhelming amount of reviews claiming that when contacting these companies, they were unable to reach a real person to either cancel from dissatisfaction or to help with the confusing user interface. This is the part where we feel that we can really shine. As I’m sure you have heard, we like to keep things simple. We’re going to put simplicity above all else when developing Boxable to make sure that nothing is even close to confusing. In addition to that, we will be providing each customer with their own dedicated support agent, as usual, to make sure that the support is nothing short of phenomenal. We can go on and on about how we will improve, but I think our time is better spent developing these improvements rather than going on and on.
We hope to have a closed beta running by winter 2011 followed by an official release before summer 2012. We will be working closely with customers during the beta to add popular features as well as fixing bugs. If you would like to be in on the private beta, head on over to Boxable.me and just put in your email address. All users that sign up for the beta and actively contribute to a better Boxable will be rewarded down the road, trust us.
